Autoimmune Cytopenias

In this review article, researchers from the University of British Columbia compare clinical features, diagnosis, and pathogenesis of COVID-19–related cytokine storm syndrome (CSS) with other hematologic CSSs, including secondary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, idiopathic multicentric Castleman’s disease, and CAR-T cell therapy–associated cytokine release syndrome. One key goal is to use this information to target specific cytokines or common inflammatory signaling pathways in COVID-19 CSS.
