Pregnancy with Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria: A Case Series with Review of the Literature

The authors report on management at their tertiary care center of 10 pregnancies in 4 females with a diagnosis of paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinurina (PNH), and highlight key findings from international case series/case reports from the medical literature on management of pregnancy in women with PNH. In conclusion, they emphasize that an established protocol should be developed to “standardize management plans for such a high-risk group” and call for “[prospective] studies with long-term follow-up to determine the effectiveness of eculizumab … [and] the outcome of pregnancy with PNH.
